Paul Bunyan

Our only real plan for our trip was to go to Paul Bunyan Land. My mom went there every year with her family when she was little, so I've heard about it. Carl and I laughed because it felt a little like going back in time. Like it probably wasn't that much different than when she used to go. And that is exactly why it was awesome! It was an amusement park for kids and there were no lines. They could go on any ride, anytime. And when they walked into the park, Paul Bunyan welcomed Tyler and Carsten by name. Tyler thought that was pretty cool.

I love how you can barely even see Carsten in this picture. Paul Bunyan is a big dude.

Tyler thought he was awesome. But didn't really want to get that close. He did however, have a little conversation with him, and even winked at him. And Paul winked (blinked) back!

Carsten is lucky he's tall. He was exactly at the line for a few of the rides. If he wasn't it could have been a long, frustrating day for him. He wanted to go on every ride with Tyler, so badly! He was not happy about the ones he was too short for.

I didn't know that dinosaurs and Paul Bunyan hung out together, but it was at the top of Tyler's list of fun things that day. And Carsten is actually the one who spotted them. He took off running towards them and roaring!

Train ride!

We had to peel Carsten off of this tractor. He wanted to stay there for the rest of his life.

Carsten refused to go on one of the horses. We think he was still traumatized from the horse ride the night before. He wasn't afraid of any other rides! Just the horses on the most mild ride there.

Tyler and Carl even got to go rock climbing!

Focused pilot

Tyler might have liked the giant mail box even more than Paul Bunyan.

It was so fun to watch them together. :-)

And it's clearly the end of the day. Very tired baby!

It was such a fun day. We couldn't have asked for better weather to spend the day outside. And fun rides without lines was just icing on the cake. The boys hardly stopped smiling all day. They both had a blast.

At the end Paul Bunyan told us all goodbye. The next day Tyler asked to go back to Paul Bunyan Land. When I told him we couldn't, he was on the verge of tears and he said, "But Paul Bunyan told me to come back and see him again." It was adorable. He's just so sweet. And he's right. Paul Bunyan did tell him that. :-)
