One More Thing

Everyone keeps asking how I'm feeling, so here's the update. I'm feeling great! I haven't been sick at all, I'm just really tired. I accidentally take a nap almost everyday after work. Carl asked me today what happened to his energetic wife and the answer is, I really don't know, but wherever she is she's probably sleeping. He asked this as I was laying on the couch in a daze after attempting to unload the dishwasher while sitting on the floor. I'm not gonna lie, Carl did most of the work and I put like two pots and a strainer away. And then I fell asleep while we watched Community.

In other news, word spreads really fast at work. I told just 4 people at work and the next day all of the three year olds from my class last year ran up and surrounded me on the playground and Sophia said, "Is there a baby in your tummy?" I have no idea how they heard that, but apparently some lady in a blue shirt told them. Then they all started asking me to show them the baby and I had to explain to them that the baby is inside of me so they can't see it yet. And now they've all told their parents there's a baby in my tummy, so the word is officially out! :-)

Breaking the News

Ok, so a lot of people have been asking us how we told our families we were having a baby. It was a lot of fun and I had dreamed about that day for a long time. So the day after our first doctor appointment I went out and bought the Grandmother and Grandfather Willow Tree Angels. The little old ladies at the Hallmark Store were very excited. Really, they were the first people I told about being pregnant so it was a fun experience.

We got to see Carl's parents that weekend so we had the gifts wrapped up and gave them to them before dinner. They were, of course, very excited when they figured out what we were telling them! :-)

Since my parents are in Kansas, we didn't get to see them. So we wrapped up a box with the Grandpa and Grandma and our first ultrasound pictures inside with notes that they couldn't open them without calling us first.

They were also really excited and it was a fun way to tell them. They are in trouble now though because I gave them one job to do and they haven't done it. They were supposed to take a picture of themselves with the Willow Tree Angels and send it back to us and it's been over a month now and I haven't seen one. So you don't get to see a picture of them. Mom and Dad, if you're reading this I'm still waiting... :-)

We called all of our siblings to tell them the news. Jacob immediately informed me that he is going to be the uncle who takes my kids for a day, pumps them full of sugar and makes them crazy and then returns them to us. That'll be fun. Hopefully his fiance will help keep him under control.

Tiny Heartbeats :-)

Spoiler alert! You might want to scroll down and read the post before this if you haven't already heard the big news. :-)

Today was my 12 week appointment and it was so much fun. I hate going to the doctor so to hear that from me is pretty amazing. At our first appointment we had our first ultrasound and got to see the heart beating. Today was got to hear it and it was the most amazing sound I've ever heard. We are so so so excited and now we can finally tell everyone! I'm at work right now so I should probably go back to my classroom and let my sub go, but I just had to write this first because it was a little too exciting to hold in all day. :-)

Our Big News!

I have wanted to start a blog for a long time. I've thought about it over and over again and every time I decide that I don't have that much to write about. Not that we never have any fun or exciting stories to share, because we definitely do. I just wasn't sure how likely it would be for me to actually write them down. So I decided that someday, when we have a baby, I will start a blog. Not just about the baby, but I figured there would be a lot more to write about and more pictures to show off when there was a little one around.

So what does that mean? You guessed it! We're having a baby! We found out on July 22 that we are finally adding a third member to this little family and we are so excited. :-) Best news ever! It's been really hard to keep it a secret this long. We told our families right after our first appointment at about 7 weeks. But we've been waiting to tell everyone else until our 12 week appointment tomorrow.

My due date is March 29 and I'm pretty determined to be one of the 4-5% who actually deliver on their due dates so you can go ahead and mark it down on your calendars as Baby Hagen's Birthday. :-)
