Manhattan Baby

My very practical husband didn't want to do any baby shopping until we know if we're having a boy or a girl. So I have been very patiently waiting for my first big shopping extravaganza. And I have done a great job! So far we have a bib that says I Love Daddy. And that's it. I am much better at restraining myself at Target than I ever thought I would be. But I am very excited to say that we finally have our first baby outfit. My parents are already trying to recruit their grandchild to Kansas State and they sent us the cutest little pajamas!

I was so excited that we had a baby outfit that I asked Carl if we could frame it and hang it in the kitchen so we can look at it everyday until the baby comes. He didn't really want to so much. :-)

And because I'm a little excited about my upcoming shopping trips, I have been counting down the days to it. 12 more days until we know if we'll be buying pink or blue!

The Bump Has Arrived!

We've been meaning to take weekly pictures of the baby bump for awhile, and at 15 weeks we finally started. Here are the first couple of pictures of our growing baby :-)

15 Weeks

Carl started laughing when he was taking that picture because when he focused the camera it put the little box around my stomach instead of my face! I thought I had awhile to go before my stomach would be the focal point of a picture, but apparently no, that happens right away!

16 Weeks

This week I've been getting comments everyday about how I'm starting to show and, "Oh, look at your belly!" People that I don't see very often, like parents from my old classes, have started to stare at my tummy instead of my face too. I find it pretty entertaining.

Fondue Party :-)

My dear sister turned 19 so we celebrated at our house with a fondue night! Jeff, Jacob and his fiance, Laura, and Emma came over and we had a cheese fondue, an oil fondue and of course a chocolate marshmallow fondue. It was the first time I'd ever done that with company but it turned out great and we had a lot of fun!

The Birthday Girl, refusing to look at the camera.

Jeff is looking very excited for dessert!

Jacob having a little too much fun.

Soon to be Mr. and Mrs. Bernardy!

Baby Names :-)

I was looking though a list of baby names on one of my new favorite websites, http://www.thebump.com/, but instead of finding names that I would actually use, I got distracted by all the names I couldn't believe were actually on there. Here are some of my favorites;

Sorry, that got to be a lot of them but I thought they were hilarious. And I'm really sorry if anyone was actually planning on using one of these names. I did not mean to offend anyone! But please don't name your child Frideswide or Bleacher.

Saturday Night Adventures

Yesterday on a freezing cold October day Carl went to study for most of the day so I spent my time drinking hot chocolate and getting some things done around the house. At about 7:00 or so I started laundry. Seemed like a simple project. But it turned out to be my very first laundry tragedy. I put in a HUGE load of jeans. I was really pushing the limits of what my washer could hold, but all was good. Then I put them in the dryer arond the time Carl got home. We noticed that it was really loud, but did either of us think to check out why it was so loud? No. I just shut the door and let it be. Big mistake. Carl accidentally left his nice new pen in one of his pockets and I did not check pockets so now every pair of jeans we own, except what we were wearing, have blue ink stains all over them. So we spent the rest of the night scrubbing stains, and rewashing the jeans twice because all the water was so blue from the ink floating around, and trying unsuccessfully to scrub the inside of our now blue dryer. At 11:30 we finally gave up on trying to get things clean and picked a movie from Netflix to watch. Have you ever seen Nine Months? It was funny right up until the part where two women were in labor at the same time with husbands and doctors passing out. And really, I never wanted to see how big an epidural needle actually is. When the movie was over our jeans were still stained and not dry yet so we hung them all over the house and put the other load in so we could go to bed. At 2:00. Two loads of laundry should not take 7 hours.

So today, it's possible that we slept through church and I spent the rest of the day grocery shopping and celebrating Pumpkin Month by making yummy pumpkin dip and delicious pumpkin bars. Yay! We will be shopping for new jeans soon.
