A Brand New Voice

Tyler has officially found his voice. He's been "talking" and babbling for quite awhile. But yesterday he discovered a few very exciting things about his voice. He learned that there are many different noises that he can make, as well as many different pitches and many different volumes. His favorite: high pitched and LOUD! He learned this new little trick on the way to the grocery store yesterday and he has hardly stopped since. He yelled at his book all the way to the store and while I was shopping I don't think I made it down a single aisle without at least one person commenting on how much he loves to talk.  :-)

The funny thing about this wonderful world of sound is that if you aren't looking at him, you really can't tell if he's happy or sad. It all sounds the same, but his expressions change very quickly. He switches back and forth between pure baby bliss and deep and extreme frustration with his toys at a surprisingly fast rate. By the time I realize he's upset, he's happy again! Mostly, I think he just likes the sound of his amazing little voice.

Tyler is SO active, that I thought we might have a little athlete on our hands. But now that he's discovered his big voice, he just might be a singer. Whatever he decides to be when he grows up, he will definitely know how to make his voice heard.

Way Too Fast

I'm not sure how it happened, but my baby is definitely NOT a newborn anymore. He was four months on Tuesday! He is a happy, playful, spunky, and pretty hilarious little bundle of fun. He rarely stops moving, he has a lot to say, and has some pretty big opinions. He loves to stand, sit, bounce, smile, read stories and sing. He's a good sleeper at night and loves to snuggle to fall asleep for his naps. He gives big sloppy kisses and puts every single thing he sees in his mouth. He is growing up way too fast! I love to see him learning so many new things, but slow down little man!

We had Tyler's four month appointment on Monday (shots again - ugh!) and he was a little champ. He is 13 lb. 8 oz. (25th percentile) and 25 1/2 inches long (75th percentile)! Tall and skinny, just like his Daddy.

Tyler discovered his feet last week so it was next to impossible to get a picture of how long he is!  :-)

I'm In Trouble

Tyler has always liked to stand up. He would stand up all day just holding our hands if he could, but this getting a little ridiculous! He's too little for this. I swear he's going to walk and climb before he crawls.

And I'm sure I've said this before, but I have a new favorite picture of Tyler. My favorites change weekly.

Congratulations Carl!

Carl is an amazing husband, a wonderful dad, a hard worker and a super smart guy! He works really hard everyday and because of his smarts and hard work, I get to stay home with Tyler. I am so thankful for that. And on top of all the work he does at his job, he spent the last three years working on his Master's Degree.

We had a little party on Saturday to celebrate the fact that he's done and we get to see him again!

Thank you for everything you do for us Carl. We love you and we're so proud of you!!

My Taste of Twins

So apparently I'm doing In-Home Day Care now. Three weeks ago I started watching another little boy who is 4 days younger than Tyler. He's a cutie and kind of reminds me of a little Cabbage Patch Kid. I have him from 8 - 4, five days a week and so far it's going pretty well. When people at work found out that I would be staying at home when I had my baby, I had four different families ask me about watching either their baby or a friend's baby. This little guy's parents are friends of some one I worked with. They're a really nice family! It's really not hard having two babies here. Most of the time I can get their schedules to match up so I can be giving each of them what they need. As long as they don't need to eat at the same time, I'm good. The hard part is having one that's my own and one that's not. That part is harder than I expected it would be back in January when I decided to do this. By the time I started I knew it could be tough. But Tyler is pretty easy going and most of the time loves to play and entertain himself while I'm taking care of Logan. If he couldn't do that, it would be much harder on me. The first few days I felt really guilty! If I was holding Tyler I felt guilty that I wasn't giving attention to the one who was paying me, and if I held Logan I felt guilty for giving someone else attention instead of Tyler. But in reality they are perfectly fine playing with their toys while I take care of the other one. If I only had Tyler he would still spend time playing by himelf sometimes. So I guess, so far, so good. I know that as they get older I will get much busier, but I think this is the hardest time. When they can't do anything for themselves. Once they start moving around a little more and get on more consistent schedules I think it will actually be pretty fun to see them start playing together and enjoying each other.

I have always wanted to have twins, so people keep asking me if I still want them. Yes I do! I think it would be so much fun and nothing could scare me away from that little dream. But I don't like getting up early. I've been drinking a LOT of coffee! And I don't even like coffee.

Playing Catch Up

I have all these things I've been meaning to write on here but I just haven't gotten myself to the computer long enough to do it. So here it is, Father's Day, 3 months and taking on day care, all in one.

First off, I am lucky to have the best dad in the world. I am so thankful for him and and his godly, loving and fun influence in my life! He's amazing and I'm so glad that I can call him my dad. :-)

Second, I am lucky that my baby has the other best dad in the world. Carl is great with Tyler and I'm thankful for that. Not every little boy is lucky enough to have a daddy who loves him as much as Carl loves Tyler. Ok, wow. Writing that made me get teary eyed. I am so sappy!

This was after we went out to eat for Father's Day. Carl and Tyler were both wearing different outfits, but Tyler wanted to give Carl an extra special present and exploded his diaper all over him at Olive Garden. Note to self: always take pictures before leaving the house. Never wait until after. Thankfully I had one of my favorite of Tyler's outfits packed in the diaper bag. Carl had to wear his present all over his shirt until we got home.  :-)

Last Sunday Tyler was 3 months old! THREE MONTHS!! I don't know how that happened, but time is flying way too fast for me. I can't believe how much the little guy is growing!

2 Months

3 Months

Here are a few things that Tyler has been up to now that he's 3 months old!

His hair continutes to get crazier.

He loves snuggling with blankets and soft toys.

He can usually be found trying to put things in his mouth.
If nothing is available he just settles for his own hands.

He sleeps great in his bed at night, but his 2 favorite places to nap are the papasan and propped up on a pillow in our bed. Not ideal, but I'm working on it. Sometimes getting a good nap seems more important than where it happens. Those are the only 2 places he doesn't ever wake up when I lay him down! Doesn't he look proud of himself for getting his way?

He stands up really well just holding our hands. And he's starting to learn to sit up. He can last about 10 - 30 seconds before he starts to tip. He loves to sit or stand to look around at everything!

Ok so I didn't get to the part about day care in my house and now Tyler is getting hungry so I'll add more when I get the chance.
