8 Months!

This has been a big month for Carsten. Really big. Last month he was rolling all around to get places. This month he is on the move. He started army crawling about a month ago and is now also crawling on his hands and knees. He alternates between the two. He can pull himself up on furniture and get himself from laying down to sitting up. He follows us all around the house now. At first he would get to the doorway of the living room and not know where to go. Now he's getting more confident in where he's going. He does not stay in one place for long. And he's so proud of himself when he finds who he's looking for! I can't describe the cuteness of seeing him peeking his little face around a corner with his big, proud smile on his face. He just lights up.

He also discovered the bathroom drawers and cabinets in the kitchen. Yep, we're there already. He waves, puts his hands over his eyes to play peek-a-boo and tries to blow kisses. He blows them from his ear instead of his mouth, but it's a very cute attempt. :-) He is even saying Mama and Daddy. Not really to us yet, but he's saying the words. And we both swear he's said, "Hi," a few times. He does a lot of imitating and a lot of babbling, so it sounded pretty real, but it was probably just accidental. Fun all the same though.

We have way too many baby toys all over the house, but Carsten is much happier playing with big kid toys. He loves blocks, Little People and Tyler's cars, play food and tools the most. Tyler was getting pretty upset about that for awhile, but he's gotten much better at sharing and if he's worried about Carsten getting into something he playing with he says something like, "Can you put Carsten over there?"

Food is a big deal to Carsten. Don't mess with him when he's eating. I've warned you. He's this sweet, calm, happy, patient little boy all day, but when he is ready to eat, he is ready to eat. He turns into a much feistier version of himself as soon as he gets in his high chair. He wants food, and he wants it now! I rarely take a bite of food before he's done eating, and if I do, he tells me exactly what he thinks of that. He yells, "Aaaahhhh!" if I stop feeding him to talk or eat or anything else. Thank goodness for teething biscuits and Baby Mum-mums. They are his absolute favorite. He gets crazy excited when he sees the package and he snatches them out of my hand and attacks them immediately. It's hilarious every time. And they allow me to have time to eat.

Also this month, he finally, after a month of irritation, got his first tooth. And after about a day or two of relief, he started working on his second. Some of the best news for all of us is that after having the helmet, colds and that tooth, he is finally sleeping through the night again!

It didn't take him long to show Jacob and Laura where they will need to baby proof their house.

And that reminded me a lot of his brother at that age!

Carsten is very sweet, very social and very funny! His little smile lights up a room and he brings our family so much joy. Carsten, we love you sweet boy!
