Little Campers

My parents come up every summer and camp for a couple weeks. The rest of the family goes out to the campground whenever we can while they're there. Carl has taken a lot of work off recently, what with a new baby and a trip to Canada and all. So I took Tyler and Carsten there for a week and Carl joined us for the weekend.

It was a great trip! I was nervous about Tyler getting any sleep at all. And the first night my fears were validated when he stayed up until 11:15 (when the rest of us finally realized we would not be doing anything else and also went to bed). It got better though. He took great naps and while he did stay up later than normal, he got better at falling asleep in a camper full of people. Carsten's sleep schedule got a little messed up too, but thankfully it only took a couple days at home for him to get back to his 8-9 hour nights.

This year it was so much fun to take Tyler camping. It was fun to see him understanding the point of camping and enjoying it so much. He was (like a true little boy) covered in scrapes and dirt, signs of all the fun he had. He loved going for walks, playing at the park, cooking over the fire (with help of course), eating outside and seeing his grandparents, aunts and uncles.

The weather was gorgeous! Although it was actually a little too cool for swimming. We went to the beach once and we took a paddle boat out while Carl was there. The nights were pretty cool, so even though the plan was to all sleep in the tent while Carl was there, I ended up staying in the camper with Carsten. Tyler loved sleeping in the tent! And he was very excited about using his very own new sleeping bag for the week.

Out on the lake!

Big boy, hanging out in the camper.

One of the many reasons he had a few scrapes.

Aunt Laura time!

Loving that our campsite was right off of the playground!
