Construction Zone

For the last few weeks our house has been a construction zone. Well, really for the last few months. But the most recent projects have been some minor painting and repairs, and then a few big projects. We had a window installed in a room in our basement and Carl built a closet in it. Unfortunately, the window guys did a TERRIBLE job. Horrible. Long story short, they didn't put support behind the sheet rock, so you could move the wall  if you pushed on it around the window. They left a gap between the trim and the wall. And actual hole, right there in the wall. They did not put insulation in and the trim was just plain, unstained 2x4's cut close to the right size, nailed up and not even straight. And then they tried to charge us an extra $400 beyond what they originally said. Really? Anyway, all that to say, Carl not only had to build a closet, he also tore apart most of the window and refinished it himself (with some much appreciated help from his dad and our good friend Seth). He's very handy like that.

Actually, let's be honest here. I did most of the work.

Ok, fine. I didn't. But I did put one whole screw in by myself.

Tyler really did help. He was fascinated. And so proud.

They make a pretty great team.
