Quite a few Navigator staff families were among those who lost their homes. The Navigator properties remained untouched though. There are many amazing stories of the way God protected those places. It's very obvious that he is not finished using those places to change lives!
Fires raged all around the Glen and completely surrounded Eagle Lake. The fire fighters worked very hard to protect the camp, taking a stand there when it looked hopeless. But along with their hard work, God sent a few miracles their way. One firefighter said that a huge 70 foot wall of fire was coming right at Eagle Lake, but without warning and with no reasonable explanation, it suddenly turned at the camp and went around. At the Glen a burning log came rolling down from the canyon, but when it got there it just stopped and nothing around it caught fire.
I've seen several pictures and videos of the places after the fire. The Glen looks exactly the same, it just has a lot more wildlife, that came to take refuge there! Eagle Lake did have fire damage, much of the property was burned, but the four acres of the main camp, where all the buildings are, were untouched.
This is at the entrance to Eagle Lake. Everything was black and burned.
But further up the road, this is the sign that welcomes campers. Everything was green and beautiful, just like it was left.
This is the mountain with the cross on it. I've slept next to that cross quite a few times! Things were burned all around the cross, but the wooden cross itself, didn't even have a scorch mark!
When you look at the fire map, it was red everywhere surrounding camp. But there was a little hole in the middle that the fire went all around. Only God could have done that!
